Mary got up late today. She didn't want to go out. When family is at the house, she just wants to hang out with everyone. She had breakfast with her grand kids, and watched TV with them. We did make it out later in the day though. We went to Costco for a walk and for a late lunch.

I brought Mary's Christmas present's since I won't see her on Christmas, I had her open them up after she was ready for the day. She wasn't sure what to do about opening them. I had to help a bit. I think she might have liked them. I got her a plaque and a couple books. Merry Christmas!

Peter started his ski patrol job, I wasn't aware of it. Mary was OK. She got up around 9:00. We went for a walk around Costco. We spend a lot of time there walking and tasting the samples ;) We went to Grand America and looked at their Christmas windows and decorations, Little America had cute decorations too. Mary liked some of it.

We had a slow start today. Mary was up a lot throughout the early morning before I got to the house. She got up early and was ready pretty quickly, but after that she took a nap for a long time. I guess she needed it. We walked around in stores today and went for a drive. We played our own version of UNO at the house.

It snowed really bad last night! Peter called to tell me that there was a road closure. Surprisingly I was able to make it to the house on time. Peter and the kids went skiing for the day. Mary got ready and I got her all bundled up and we drove to Costco and picked up her med's and walked around the store since it's too cold and snowy to go for a walk outside. We were going to have lunch there but we had lunch at home instead. I left a little earlier today.

Mary had a hard time today. She got up and when I asked how she was doing, she just said she was doing 'awe-full'. She slept in for a long time. We talked a bit while she was in bed. She had a hard time getting ready today and didn't want any help either. We did manage to make it out. I took her to lunch and then we went for a walk at the park. It was an off day for Mary. Hopefully the rest of the day and night was ok for her.

I haven't had internet for a while. I'll post what I can remember and pick it up from here. I'll also add more pics when I can find them.

Mary had a fun Birthday weekend! She had family visiting her for her 80th Birthday! She got so spoiled and got LOTS of really nice things for her Birthday. She was tired this morning, I let her sleep in a little bit. We read her Birthday cards, looked at all the things she got from her family and then took a couple books back to the library. We went to the store for a walk. (It was too cold for her outside). We had lunch at home and then Peter took Mary to her Dr. appt. I had an early day today.

Duke and Mary

Today we went to Columbus Senior Center for movie day. They gave us popcorn and we watched the movie for a little bit. Mary wanted to go, I think it was too noisy with others talking. We can try again another day. Maybe go to lunch there first too. (Family is starting to come for her Birthday weekend)

We checked out some of the Senior Centers in Mary's area. It was fun to see what activities they had available. We signed her up at a couple of them. It will be a good place to take her when the weather is really cold.

Today was my son's Birthday. Mary came with me to get him some balloons and take them to his house, it was fun. I asked her if I should embarrass him at work or just take them to his house so he could see them after work. She thought it was funny that I wanted to embarrass him at work. We went for a walk of course and then out to lunch again at Shanghai

Today was a longer day than usual. Peter had a training day up at Snow Basin. It was a good day, we went for a walk and then to lunch at Shanghai.

Mary wasn't her usual chipper self today. The weather is cold and overcast. Rain/snow was expected. We went for a walk at Trolley Square, looked at the Christmas decorations and then went to lunch at Even Stevens. She seemed anxious, we came home and watched a movie, it called her down a bit. I hope she has a good night.
Peter starts back at Snow Basin on Wednesday. I'll be coming over earlier during this time.

I had another short day with Mary today. I have family visiting from out of the country and want to take advantage of the time they have here. She was in a good mood today and when she was ready, we went for a quick walk up the street. It was a little windy and cold for Mary. We got in my car and drove up to Foothill and walked around shops up there and then went out to lunch. When we got home, she wanted to go on another walk. She braved the cold and went for a good walk. 

Mary was up and in bed when I came over. I went in and talked to her for a little bit to let her know I was there. She got up soon afterwards and was in a really good mood. We went to pick out some clothes for the day, her bed wasn't made so she climbed in and went back to bed for a bit. It was a short day today. After Mary was ready to go, we went to Sugar House park for a walk. It was windy and cold for her. We went to a store instead and walked around and then went out to lunch. (It's starting to get busy for the holiday season).

Good day for Mary today. The nurse came by to see her this morning instead of Friday. Everything was fine. Mary was up soon afterwards. After breakfast and getting ready for the day, we went to Dunkin Donuts first to get warmed up. It's cloudy, overcast and supposed to rain today. We drove to the Capital and walked around. It was too cold for a walk outside for Mary. We ended up going on a tour too. Their were some kids waiting to go and we went with the kids and their parents. We were there for a while. It was nice to see her with the kids. It was a busy day at the Capitol. We went to my house and I made some lunch. We played cards and visited. When we got back to the house, Mary went with Peter and the girls to a soccer game.

Mary was tired today. We had a hard time getting started for the day. We took some books back to the library and went to a couple shops and then out to lunch. We came home a little early so she could take a nap. She seemed better after her nap.

Mary was up early for how much colder it was today. Peter got her in the shower and I finished getting her ready for the day. We went to the store and bought a pumpkin. We took it over to my house (I had my pumpkin carving kit there) and carved the pumpkin. She carved an eye and the nose. When it was carved, I put the pumpkin seeds in the oven and we had a good snack. We went for a walk, the sun was coming out. I made us some lunch at my house and then we went for another really good walk. We went to the library and she picked up a couple more books. The day went fast today. It was a good day. When Peter got home, he took her over to the park.

Mary was up early today. Even though she was a little cold, she was able to get in the shower with no problems today. After breakfast, we went for a walk around the neighborhood, came in and had a small snack and then went to Garden Terrace to pick up some of her clothes that got lost there. We went over to Murray Park. Mary wanted to go into a building there. It turns out it was a rec. center. We took a walking tour of the place. It would be a nice place for Mary to go for a walk when the weather gets too cold. We spent some time at the park, and then went for a drive. There are so many pretty colors this time of year! We stopped and had lunch at a Mexican place and then drove home to finish up laundry. 

Mary slept in really late today. We drove down to Trolley Square and went for a walk in all the shops. We came home and had lunch. I left early because I have family in town.

I picked up Mary at Garden Terrace today. We had to wait for her laundry, but the laundry didn't have a lot of her clothes. Alma from Garden Terrace will call me about those. She had a great time there! (She did wander off the first day though). She is so helpful and sweet and just wants to help anyone she can. She even let Ricardo (The CNA) help her with a shower yesterday! The housekeeper did her hair too. Really nice group of people.
She was worn out today. She took a nap while reading a book waiting for the laundry and then again when I brought her home. She needs to rest up from being on their schedule.

Mary was up late today. Not until noon! Peter was able to get her in the shower after I had tried. We then went for a walk and then I drove her to Garden Terrace. I told her that Peter and the kids are going on vacation and that Peter was nice to get her a place there. I wasn't sure how she would take it but she was really great! She talked to all the people that lived there. She was so dang sweet! I left her a note telling her Luisa would be back in the morning to take her out for the day. I think she'll have a good time while she's there.

We started off by reading a little bit of Mary's book. We needed to take the books back to the Library. We re-checked out a couple that she really seems to like. I've even read some to her and she just wants me to keep going ;) We went for a walk around the Sugar House area and met an interesting man on our walk. We ended up walking over to Fairmont park. A lady was there that brought tons of bird food for the birds. It was fun to watch them. We went to Wendy's for lunch and then to target to ride the scooter. She had fun with Luisa doing that so I wanted to try it. It wasn't quite the same. She did go around the store a couple times but didn't seem that interested in it. We came home and read.

Mary had a rough start today. She woke up not in a good mood and just didn't get out of it. It took a while to get dressed and get going but once she did, we went to Cafe on 1st and picked up some lunch and took it over to the park. We stayed at the park for a long time. She just wanted to relax. We watched all the dogs and the people. I think we walked all over Liberty park today. We went to the store to pick up some laundry soap, went for a drive and then headed back to the house. I hope she has a better night tonight and a good day tomorrow.

Mary was up but still in bed when I came over today. I went in and visited with her and then let her rest for a little bit. She is in good spirits today. We started off the day with a walk around the neighborhood and then went for a drive. We picked up some lunch and went to a park above the city cemetery. It had great views! We walked around up there too. We went in some shops in Sugar house and for a small walk at Hidden Hollow. She went with Peter when we got back to the house. 

What a day... Mary was ready to go around noon, she didn't want much help but was able to get ready after a while. and a nap. We played bingo, went for a drive, and had lunch at Paradise Bakery. We went for a walk on the Bonneville shoreline trailhead. Mary needed to go to the bathroom. She went up by some bushes, and lost her footing and hit her head. She got banged up but said she was ok. We went to clean her face off and went home. Peter mentioned that we should go to the insta care. He met us there. Mary ended up needing 3 stitches under her eye. She was a real trooper about it. Me and Tucker stayed with her until the doctor was done. Tucker drove her home. I let Luisa know.

Mary had been up earlier before I got to the house. She slept in for a while. She wasn't in the best of mood. She had a hard day today and didn't want any help. She took a nap and after a while let me help her get ready for the day. We went to the library first and took some books back. She chose a couple more while we were there. We went for a walk around the sugar house area, picked up some lunch at Whole Foods and took it to the park and went for a walk afterwards. We went for a drive then headed back to the house.

Mary had a hard time getting going today. We visited for a little bit then she took a nap. She didn't want to get ready for the day or even have breakfast. I cleaned while she took a nap. When she got up, I fixed her some breakfast then slowly but surely she got ready to go out. It ended up being really hot today! We went to my place so that I could change. I made us some lunch, then Mary wanted to go for a walk. We went for a drive and ended up at Tanner Park. We stayed there for a bit, enjoying the weather and the people watching.

Luisa worked for me on Monday. Today me and Mary went to the Gallivan center to listen to a classical guitarists. The lunch bunch concert series ends on the 11th. I thought it would be

fun to go to our last one. Mary liked the music and was clapping along. She went up to the guy afterwards and told him thank you. I made some lunch and we took it over to Liberty park. They were filming a movie over there, it was kind of cool to watch some of it. We had lunch and went for a really good walk, and just sat and watched the ducks and the people and just talked. We stopped at the store on the way home and bought Peter a piece of cake for his Birthday today! I was just going to get him one big piece. Mary said, "I strongly feel that we need to get another one". I bought two of the big pieces, I didn't think to get anymore. They were big though ;) I had Mary hand them to Peter when we got back to the house.

Mary was up eating breakfast when I got to the house. We visited then she got ready for the day. She picked out what to wear and took a shower. We went to my house and picked up some Tylenol. We ended up watching a movie, it was pouring outside. We went for a drive then went to a thrift store for a walk and then had lunch at the Soup Kitchen. When we got back to the house, we went for a walk around the neighborhood.

Mary was up earlier but asleep when I came over. We went for a walk around the neighborhood and then went to take books back to the library. We walked around Sugar House and stopped in some stores. We had lunch at Whole Foods then went for a walk around Hidden Hollow. (We were sitting on a bench, it was really windy. A branch fell on Mary's head from the wind! She screamed, I jumped and then we laughed. THEN, a nat either flew or fell into my eye.) Afterwards we headed over to the park then back to the house. We watched a movie, then I fixed dinner. Mary watched part of another movie then I helped her get ready for bed.

Today was a little bit of a hard start, but once we got going we had a good day. Mary decided to go for a walk while I was cleaning the kitchen, I had no idea but I did catch up with her. We came back and finished getting ready and then went for another walk. We went for a drive and did a couple errands then went to lunch at World Burrito and looked around some shops. We walked over to Hidden Hollow and enjoyed the shady weather over there and the nice trails.

After Mary was up and ready, we went for a drive in the Avenue's. I saw a cute place to stop. We had something to eat at Avenues Bistro on 3rd, and then went for a walk around the Avenues. We noticed Alice Gallery and stopped in to look around. Afterwards, we went to the downtown library for the Savvy Senior Movie. They played High Society with Frank Sinatra, Grace Kelly and Louie Armstrong. It was a good movie. Mary enjoyed the movie and the music. It was a fun day. She had a snack when she got back to the house.

We started off the day with a walk around the neighbor hood. I made a lunch and we took it to the Aviary. We found a bench in the shade and a peacock got really close to Mary. It ate half of her sandwich! We stayed at the Aviary for a while, walked around looked at the birds, rested in the shade. It was nice. We stopped at McDonald's for a drink and took it over to Fairmont park and sat in the shade and watched the birds before we came back to the house.

It was a nice and relaxing day today. We started off the day painting and then went for a long walk around the neighborhood. Mary pointed out a couple peacocks in someones front yard! We stopped under a tree and enjoyed the weather and watched the cars. We went down to the downtown library and took some lunch to the roof top. It was really nice. Every time we try to go up there it's closed for one reason or another. It was a pretty place, nice little walk, great place to enjoy the afternoon. When we got back to the house we read a little bit of a book together.

Mary was just getting up as I came in and didn't have any problem getting in the shower this morning, I made breakfast and after breakfast we went for a walk around the neighborhood and when we came back, I fixed some lunch for us to take to City Creek and listen to a woman play the saxophone and other horns. She was from Wyldwood. We walked around City Creek enjoying the weather, people watched and looked in some stores. Afterwards we went to Sonic and had a shake. It was hot outside and tasted good. Mary went shopping at Costco with Peter when she got home.

It was a harder day for Mary today. She slept in late and had a confusing morning. We got out around noon and drove over to the park for a walk. On our walk we took lots of breaks and people watched and just enjoyed the weather. We went to lunch again at Even Stevens. She was ready to go, saying she'd 'had it up to here' with the place. We came back to the house and she was able to settle down after a while. She/we read part of a Patricia Cornwell book.

Cool tree trunk

Mary was just getting up when I came in the house. She got in the shower right away and was ready to go pretty early. We had breakfast and then went to the library to re-check out the books that she's had. We sat and read some magazines while we were there too. We
picked up a drink and went over to Sugar House park. We were there for a while. We took a good walk but Mary needed a lot of resting time. We sat in the shade and people watched and just talked. We went to lunch afterwards at Even Steven's. It was a pretty cool place, we'll have to go there again. Some of the proceeds go to help out others in the area. One of them was the Boy's and Girl's Club. 
I asked her if she would like to go to Walmart to see if I could find some plants. She was anxious, we didn't stay long. When we got to the house, she was still anxious but settled down after a while. We sat on the porch and waited for Peter.

Mary was up when I came over. We sat and visited for a bit, then we got ready for the day. She had a little more confusion today. (She forgot her night needs). We had breakfast then went for a walk around the neighborhood. We went for another walk a little later on and she came back and took a nap. (She's getting more tired and worn out on her walk's lately). We went to Gilgal Sculpture Gardens then to a plant store to look around. We came back to the house and Peter got Mary a snack.

It sounded like Mary had a good weekend. Peter was out of town, she spent the weekend with Luisa. She was still in bed when I came over. After she got up, she was showered and dressed quick again this morning. I moved over the weekend and she came along with me to pick up cleaning supplies. It was a rainy day. We walked around Shopko, looked through Michael's then had lunch at Zupas. We went for a drive, came back to the house, walked around the neighborhood, then back home. Mary was really tired. She laid down and took took a nap for a little bit.

Mary was up and ready to head out the door by 10:30! She hasn't been feeling very good, we stayed close to home today. We went for a walk, it was a nice day with a pretty blue sky. We relaxed on the porch, visited and had lunch. We went for another walk and had to come home. She took a little nap. It was a nice relaxing day.

Mary had a really good day today! She was still sleeping when I came over, but she was up showered and ready to go by 1030. We went to breakfast at Dunkin Donuts and then went for a drive around the Canyon Rim area. We were going to walk around the park at Canyon Rim but it was windy and cold and just not a good time to go for a walk. When the weather was nicer, we did end up going for a walk and then we went to lunch at Zupas.

Mary had a really mellow day this morning. She didn't wake up until 11 o'clock and had a really hard time getting going this morning. She didn't want to get dressed, we watched a movie and then she got ready for the day. We went to Dunkin Donuts and picked up some lunch to take to the park. We ate at Sugar House park and then went for a little walk afterwards. When we came home, she didn't want to get out of the car. She had a hard time standing up and needed a little help. Being weak is common after a UTI but she seems to be doing pretty good. I hope she has a good night tonight and a happy 24th of July. I will see her Monday!

Mary is doing really good after her little stay at the U. of U. We made it a mellow day, I still want her to take it a little easy. We went to the library to return and re-check out some books and then went to Sugar House BBQ for lunch. We spent a lot of time over at Fairmont park.
She went on a good walk, watched and talked to the ducks and just relaxed. She helped me put some laundry away before I left. Luisa took over around 5.

Mary was just not herself today. Confused, unstable, chills, not able to answer questions or make decisions. Me and Miles took her to the Urgent Care and then ended up going to the U of U Emergency. Miles said he would get back to me about what happened there. I hope Mary is OK.

Today a shower just didn't happen. We went to Gilgal Sculptural Garden, then went on a long drive up East Canyon up by the lake. We came back down, picked up lunch and went to the park. Mary went on a good walk today! She went home and read one of her books. I met Claire's son Miles today too. Nice guy.

Claire had to take Molly to the Vet's today. She turned out being ok, she just needs to rest. 
Me and Mary visited and then she got ready for the day. We went downtown for a drive, then went to lunch at Dunkin Donuts. We went over to the library to watch the Senior Savvy Movie, Red. It was a C.I.A. movie, with guns. Mary wasn't to into it but relaxed after a bit. We came back to the house and May and Claire went out to dinner.

Mary went shopping over the weekend and bought some new tops with Claire. She wore one of them today. We drove down to the Gallivan Center and listened to a girl sing. She was pretty good. We went to Apple Spice Bakery and picked up some lunch, brought it back to Gallivan Center and had lunch under a tree and people watched. Afterwards, we walked up to City Creek and looked around. It was nice weather today. We drove up to the house but Mary wanted to go 'up the street', so we took a little drive. I had to make a quick stop at the bank, then we came home. It was raining when we got back to the house. Mary was out on the porch with Claire before they went to dinner.

Mary had a little bit of a hard time this morning. It's not as hot as it has been the last couple of days, but it's still pretty hot. Once we got out of the house we picked up lunch at Paradise Bakery and took it over to Liberty Park and sat at a table under the shade. It's really busy at the park today. I think a lot of people are starting their holiday early. Mary wandered off but we found each other. I wanted to take her to Tracy Aviary today but she just wasn't into it. We came home to a cool house and I fixed her a snack. We went for a little walk and came back and she helped me start her laundry. 

It was a really hot day today. Mary was ready early this morning, I'm glad, it's better to get out earlier before it gets too hot. We went to the library to recheck out the Natural History book, and a few others. We went down stairs in the library and read for a bit, then we went to get a new tire for my car. It had a nail in it, I was driving on a spare. We went and got some lunch and took it to the park. It wasn't too bad in the shade, too hot for a walk though. We came back to the house where it was nice and cool.

The downtown library has senior movies every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. The plan was to go to Tracy Aviary before the movie. Mary was up late last night and slept in a little this morning. She was insistent on not taking a shower today. After a while I just helped her get dressed. It turns out the library isn't doing movies today. They are getting ready for the arts festival that opens tomorrow. We went to the Gallivan Center and listened to symphony music. Corey came with us too. I love that he wants to spend so much time with Mary. We stopped at the food court in City Creek for lunch. We drove to Liberty park and walked around the pond and relaxed under a tree. Me and Corey tried to talk Mary into a paddle boat ride. Not today. ;)

Corey is staying with Mary until Thursday. She was up wrapped in a blanket and sitting on the couch. After her shower, Corey asked what was up for the day. He came with us to Red Butte Gardens :) He's so sweet with Mary. (She still doesn't have her membership, and I left my wallet at home. Thanks Corey!) We walked around the gardens, and she pointed out all of the benches. ;) At the end, she sat and just enjoyed the weather and the company. She was content on sitting in the shade. We came back to the house, I fixed her some lunch and then we went on a walk around the neighborhood. She's so sweet and makes sure everyone is ok.

Mary was up, sitting on the couch when I came in today. She seemed to be in a good mood. Tom and Lily went out to take Molly for a walk. Mary got in the shower the first try today! It was good to see her up early and get out early. Lily came with us and we walked over to Sugar House park. We walked with her to the playground. I swung on the swings and played a little bit too ;) Tom came over and picked up Lily. Me and Mary walked around the park, watched the birds and sat in the shade. When we got back to the house, Tom made Mary some lunch. I left soon after that. It was a short day today.

It was a rough morning for Mary. She got up late and was really resistant to any help. I'm sure the schedule change is hard for her. It's nice for her to see her family though. We went for a long walk around the neighborhood, then came home and had lunch. After lunch, Mary painted a picture for Lily. We went and picked up Tom and Lily at the airport. They will be staying with Mary until Thursday. I hope she has a good day, and an easy transition.

Peter leaves for Alaska tomorrow at 6 am! Mary is going to be lost without him. We got a late start today. I had to do some laundry so she would have something to wear when we go out. We went to lunch at Luna Berry and then over to the park. She couldn't stop talking about Peter though and asking where he was. I was telling her that we needed to be out of the house for a bit so that he could get his last minute things done. She still kept asking for him. I hope she is having a good day today (Tuesday).

When Mary was ready, it took a while but when she was ready to go we started the day at Liberty Park and went for a walk. We sat and enjoyed the sun and people watched. When we were headed back to my car, I didn't have my keys! I had to end up calling a tow company to get the keys out of my car. Then the battery wouldn't start, so I had to call them again. We went to lunch at Shanghai after that exciting day.

It's June already! Mary slept in today and had a little bit of a hard time getting going today but once she was ready, we went to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. It was a nice day with enough breeze to help keep it cool. It was a mellow day, we spent most of it at the park. Mary walked far too! We took some breaks and people watched, watched the birds and just enjoyed the weather and visiting. We had lunch at Wendy's, then went for a drive and then back to the house. We watched part of a movie with Amie.

Mary had a difficult morning, it was hard for her to get ready to go but once we got out, we went to Dunkin Donuts then over to Sugarhouse park. We sat in the car for a little bit and watched the birds cause it was raining. We decided to go for a drive. We drove to Liberty Park, and by the time we were there, it was a little cloudy but it was still nice. We walked around the park and then went to to Salt Lake downtown library and watched the Secretariat. It was a really good movie, it was long but it was really good. they have senior movies twice a month at the library. We always seem to miss them. Mary sat through the whole thing and we stopped at Taco Bell afterwards to get something quick to eat on the way home. Peter was home when we got there. I gave Mary her med's before I left. 

Mary was having a little bit of an off day today. We went to a late breakfast at the Corner Cafe and then we drove up to the Bonneville trailhead walkway. She wasn't interested in the walk again today, she doesn't seem as interested in things as she normally is. We went for a long drive and stopped at Java Joes to get something to drink. We ended up coming home because she was feeling a little anxious and wanted to be home. When at home, she still seemed a little anxious, I hope she has a better night and I will see her in a couple days.

We started off with a walk around the neighborhood. I wanted to go to brunch today but with it being the Memorial Day weekend, it was really busy! We just ended up at the Dunkin Donuts downtown. We walked over to the library and watched a group of girls from a dance company preform their dances, and then we people watched and looked in the stores and walked around. We went for a drive afterwards.

Mary slept in late today. When she was ready to go we went to Red Butte Garden's. It was a pretty walk with lots of pretty flowers. My phone died and couldn't get the picture of Mary holding a flower by the waterfall. Next time ;) We had lunch at the Corner Bakery afterwards. It was a good day.
