I came over early today. Peter went up to work. Mary was a little more confused and needed more re-direction today than the last couple of weeks. It took her a little while to decide to get into the shower. We went to the store to pick up some glue to make her wreath out of the pine cones that we have collected over the past few months. The store was all sold out of the regular glue and the kind we got wasn't that good. We were working on her wreath and someone came to the door and that took her focus off of what she was doing. We had lunch and then went for a walk. It was raining earlier but stopped for a bit, we did end up getting rained on a little bit and some snow did fall too.  Mary has family coming into town for Christmas. I probably won't see her until next year!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Happy 79th Birthday Mary!

Mary had a little bit of a hard time getting going this morning. She was able to but needed a lot of re-direction. I had her open her present I brought for her. Her hands are always cold so I bought her a couple pairs of gloves. We had a little slice of chocolate cake too :) When she was ready, I had her decide whether to walk or drive. She was cold. She chose to drive over to the park. We walked around, and looked at the dogs and people watched. It was a nice sunny day. We went to Dunkin Donuts afterwards. She had some hot chocolate and got warmed up inside. When we got home, we looked at the paper but there was nothing 'interesting' in there. I made some lunch and then we went on another walk. I was asking her what her favorite part about the holidays was and she said, "The Christmas tree and the decorations". We saw some cute decorations out on our walk.
When I get back from my vacation, we'll have to make the wreath from the pine cones we have collected.

Today was a gloomy day until we got home, then it was sunny ;) We were going on a drive and Mary said "Turn here" I asked where we were going and she said "To the park". We
went for a walk at the park and then drove to the Natural History Museum and looked around. She got a little anxious so we went downstairs to sit down and had a drink and shared a bagel. When we got home, she helped me put the dishes away and we did a little matching with cards and then she rested. I will see her on Monday, her Birthday! :)

Monday, December 1, 2014

It was good to see Mary after I hadn't seen her since last Wednesday. Both me and Janie showed up this morning. I ended up staying  and Janie came back at 1:00 so I could go to the airport. After Mary was ready, and all bundled up, we went for a walk around the neighboord and then came back, rearranged the leaves, read the paper,
and then we went for a short drive to Dunkin Donuts for coffee and hot chocolate. She was still cold from our walk.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Mary was really tired today and had a hard time getting going this morning. When we left, we went to the store first, I wanted to pick up a pie for Thanksgiving. I asked Mary if she
wanted pumpkin or apple. She choose pumpkin. We drove up to Donner park area and Mary said something like it wasn't 'memorable'. She was cold even though it's a pretty warm day today. We went up to the Brigham Young monument. We were walking around and saw a sculpture of a man and she was reading about him. It had his birth date and date of death. She said "Well, I guess we don't want to talk to that man". We laughed at that. She said quite a few funny things, I wish I could remember them all. When we got back to the house, we had lunch and I had her make a note to put on the pumpkin pie using all the different colors of markers. She didn't want to use red cause that 'was for Christmas'. I had her go and lay down a few times but she just kept getting up. She is really tired today. I hope she has a good night's sleep. Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
Those boys have big loud mouths
(Starting December, I'll be starting new hours. Monday and Wednesday 10 hour days).

Monday, November 24, 2014

It was a cold day for Mary today. It snowed over the weekend too. We did triple duty at Wal-Mart today. It was a nice warm place to walk, plus I got to pick up some blankets for a blanket dive later today. AND Mary had a hand warmer ;) We got out our pine cones and were figuring out how we were going to make a wreath with the pine cones and leaves. We read the paper and I cut out some birds for her too.

Friday November 22, 2014

It looked like Mary had just woken up when I got over to the house. I had her get ready for the day and then we had some breakfast together. We went on a walk and took a different route. "Let's change it up a little bit and go a different way." I saw a flyer on the business named The Paint Mixer. She was reading the flyer and part of it said "Unleash your inner artist with family and friends." She said "Unleash your inner arsonalist". It was SO funny we were both laughing hard at that one! When we got back to the house, I got to meet Jannie (I think that's right) she is going to spend the rest of the day with Mary.

Thursday November 20, 2014

After breakfast we went to Gilgal Sculptural Gardens. It was too cold for Mary so we didn't stay long but it was a cool place. I never even knew it existed but I found it
yesterday while looking up places to go. We went to the Museum of Natural History too. I saw something about a free outdoor photo exhibit. Well it was free but you had to pay the entry fee, so not free. Mary wanted to come home, she was cold. We came home and took a little break and had something to drink. I fixed some lunch and then asked Mary if she wanted to watch a video on my computer. I was naming off a few things and when I got to John Wayne, she said she would like to see that. We only got about 5 minutes or so into the movie before it stopped working :/

Wednesday November 19, 2014

Today I get to spend a long day with Mary. We had breakfast together and then when she was ready and rested a bit, we went to Tracy Aviary. They have a good deal on Wednesday’s. It was a little cold for her but they have an indoor area with birds too. She seemed to like it, except for the ‘cold’ part. We went for a drive and then came home and had lunch. I was cleaning up and she decided to go for a walk. We came back and cleaned up her room and put some things away. Mary re-arranged the leaves in the bowls and was mentioning how nice it looked and then she was saying she was exhausted. I had her lay down on the couch.

Monday, November 17, 2014

Over the weekend, Mary was out on a walk and fell :( she's OK. When she looked in the mirror, she laughed. She has a band-aid on her head and thought it looked funny. We went out today after she was ready and bundled up. We walked over to the park again today. The pond was frozen over and there was frost on the ground. When we got back, I had her help me put her clothes away and then I got her a snack before I left.

Friday November 14, 2014

We walked over to the park today. It was a little cold but Mary was bundled up really well. We were sitting on a bench and Mary said "Let's run" she was laughing. She's a good sport about the weather. When we got back to the house, she had a snack before Peter came home.

Wednesday, November 12, 2014

After Mary was all bundled up, we drove down to City Creek today. Carla came over to clean the house and I wanted to get out of her way for a little bit. It was too cold to go outside and go walking today. It was a little cool in places but inside City Creek was a little warmer. I want to get Mary used to the weather here. She kept saying it felt like a refrigerator. It kinda did. We had a good walk and sat and looked out over the city. We came back and got warmed up and talked about gardening. She said she likes to plant fruits and vegetables. I asked her when a good time to do that was and she said in the Spring. Maybe that would be a fun activity to do with her later on. :)

Monday, November 10, 2014

Mary got all bundled up today and we went for a walk at the park. It was a cold and breezy day today; winter is on it's way. We made it to the park and sat on the bench. The sun was out but the breeze was kind of cold. We came back to the house and I fixed us something warm to drink and we played with Molly and visited. She helped me put some clothes away before Peter got home.

Saturday November 8, 2014

We had a full day today. We visited for a few minutes when I came over and then had some breakfast. We walked over to Sugar House park and spent a while over there. We had a good walk and watched some people playing soccer, walking dogs... we came home and had some lunch and she said she wanted to read a little. We sat on the couch and read together for a few minutes and then she wanted to go for a walk. When we got back, I asked her if she'd like to go to a movie, she seemed interested. I was checking out the dollar movies and they were closed for construction! We went for a drive instead to Memory Grove. I thought it might be a nice and different place to go. There was no parking, it was getting cool outside. We decided it was just a nice drive. We stopped at Java Jo's and got some coffee and hot chocolate. Peter came home and I'm sure Mary was glad to see him. :)

Friday November 7, 2014

Mary was sitting at the table when I came over today. She looked happy :) After she was ready for the day, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was a nice day :) I let her know I would be back tomorrow and wrote it on the whiteboard for her too.

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

I visited with Mary a little before we went for a walk. We were checking out Amie's homework and she was explaining the math problems to me. We had a good walk today up to the High school and then around to Sugar house park. It warmed up pretty quickly and was a nice day. When we got back, Mary had a small snack and some apple juice.
Peter is going out of town tomorrow and I'll be over on Saturday to help out. We'll have to do something fun. :)

Monday, November 3, 2014

Yesterday was daylight savings time. When Mary was ready, we went for a walk. We had a good walk around the neighborhood and over to the park. Mary was bundled up really good. It was cool, and at times a little breezy, but it was a nice walk. When we got back to the house, I wasn't sure what time it was! I fixed her some hot chocolate. We talked about Halloween and she was telling me that they went 'up the road.'

Friday October 31, 2014

We went for a walk and when we came back I showed Mary the pumpkins and what we were going to do today. She was up for it. We got out some towels to put on the table. I drew some faced on the white board for her to choose from. She liked the triangle face. She carved her pumpkin and was paying attention to detail. She laughed when she carved her second eye and said "It's winking at you." She was laughing at a few different things while she was carving her pumpkin. I didn't take off the top; I didn't think she would like to clean out the inside. But when I asked her later, she helped clean out her pumpkin. I carved the other one and cleaned off the pumpkin seeds so they could bake them later if the want. We went for another walk, we saw Peter on the way. We finished our walk and then came back to the house.

Wednesday October 29, 2014

When we went for a walk Mary was all bundled up. It Was cold outside, we didn't walk long. We came back and I fixed some hot chocolate for Mary. The cleaning lady was over so we went for a drive and ended up at the park for a while. We found some more leaves :) Peter called and he will be back a little later so we went to the store and bought a couple pumpkins. Elise and Amie can help carve them with her, or we can do that on Friday; Halloween! I asked Mary what her favorite thing about fall was she said "The cold against my face and a warm jacket".

Monday October 27, 2014

I didn't go over today. My car wasn't working. I sent Peter a couple texts to let him know. I will see Mary on Wednesday.

Friday, October 24, 2014

I think Mary was a little cold today. She wanted to get in my car. We drove my car to Sugar House park and walked around the park, sat on the benches and enjoyed the really nice weather. It was quite day at the park today. When we got back, I was showing her some magazines that I brought over. She really liked the sayings that they had on t-shirts. She got a kick out of them. I wrote on the white board "Mary, Mary quite contrary how does your garden grow. She finished the rest and then we did "There was a man from Nantucket..." we had fun with that one. I hope she has a really nice weekend. It's supposed to get cold on Monday.

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

I found Mary's nice winter coat and gloves. After we visited for a bit, we walked over to Sugar House park. There was a High School state track/field race. We watched them for a little bit and then I wanted to take her into the tunnel underneath the street and over to the shopping center. She was 'displeased' about going in the tunnel so we just walked in the park. There were lots of people there. When we got back, Mary went with Peter to the park to watch him play Frisbee golf.

Monday, October 20, 2014

It was another pretty day today! We walked over to the park and around the neighbor hood. Mary saw a few pets and some kids to talk to. We found a really pretty leaf and some more pine cones to add to our collection. I was re-arranging the leaves and she was deciding on which ones needed to be thrown out. She didn't want to help arrange them today but she was telling me where she thought they would look pretty ;)

"Put the orange in front of the green, it looks pretty"

Friday, October 17, 2014

The orange leaves growing up the trunk of the tree were pretty.
Mary was tired this morning. We walked around the neighborhood and then over to the park. She was really interested in things today; Halloween decorations, flowers, etc. and just really talking more about what she saw. It was nice. Her hip was hurting her a little bit today, we walked a little slower. We brought back some new leaves, pine cones and chestnuts. Before I left, I asked her if she would like to arrange the new things we picked up for her centerpiece. I had to leave and couldn't help her with that. Maybe she'll arrange it and make it look nice.

Wednesday October 15, 2014

Peter is out of town today, I got to spend the day with Mary. My windshield had to be replaced, I had them come to the house to do that. Mary had a Dr's. appointment that we were able to make it to on time. We came home and got warmed up and had some lunch. We went for a couple other walks during the day and collected pretty leaves, pine cones and chestnuts. She called me "The chestnut lady". Mary helped me make a "nice centerpiece". She mentioned that some small pumpkins would look nice in the middle. Good idea! Her favorite leaf was bright orange. She had a good day.

Cute ghost in the tree
After Mary was ready to go and after we had some breakfast together, we went for a walk and then came back. It was cool outside and Mary was cold. While we were warming up, we talked about our families. We took some snacks to Sugar House park and went for a walk over there. It was pretty and in the sun. It felt nice. When we got back, I fixed her a little bit for lunch, and after a few minutes she said she wanted to go for another walk. We looked at the Halloween decorations at some of the houses in the neighborhood. We found more pine cones and a few pretty fall leaves. It was a good day for walking for her.

Friday, October 10, 2014

After Mary was ready for the day, we had some breakfast together and then I had her help me fold and put away her clothes. We went for a walk and looked at the houses decorated for Halloween. We saw, and heard a woodpecker on our walk. We talked about Halloween and decorating for the holiday's again, it was a mellow day. Mary was relaxed when we came back to the house. We sat outside on the porch and enjoyed the birds. I hope she has a nice weekend, it's supposed to be nice and warm.

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

Mary was in the shower when I came over. When she was dressed and ready to go, I made her some breakfast. She looks nice and seems happy today. I asked her if she wanted to go for a walk or a drive. She said a drive would be nice. We drove down to the International Peace Gardens. When we were walking around, she mentioned that she had ever been there before. She thought it was a pretty park. We had some good conversations about the different gardens. She had a good day today with memory and conversations. We came back and picked some tomatoes from the garden and had a snack then sat out on the porch in the sun. I hope she has a good rest of the day.

"Isn't that a pretty reflection?"
The ducks were headed our way
Mary had just had a shower and was sitting at the table with a pretty new top on :) Peter left for a bit and I fixed her some breakfast. She mentioned that she was cold and wanted to put a towel around her head. I put it up in a bun for her to get her hair off of her neck. I was vaccumming and Mary said "I'm just going to go outside for a minute". I was vaccumming and looked out and didn't see her. I went out and caught up with her ;) She wanted to walk over to the park. It was a really pretty day with a pretty reflection on the pond. When we left that area, the ducks were making noise. Mary said "It's because we left" we laughed about that. We had a good walk and then came back to the house. I picked some tomatoes from the front yard and cut some up for her for a snack before I left.

Friday, October 3, 2014

Mary was a little tired today. Peter was able to get her in the shower and then when he left, we had some breakfast together and then went for a walk. When we came back, she was still tired and not as talkative today. I had her relax on the couch. She went to lay down for a little bit. She seems like she is might coming down with a cold. I hope she feels better and has a good weekend.

Wednesday, October 1, 2014

A rose from our walk.
Mary was still in bed when I get to the house today. She was having a hard time getting ready to go today. She helped me fold and put away her clothes and then we went for a walk around the neighborhood. When we got back to the house, I braided her hair for her. She was looking around the house for someone so she could "Show off her hair". :)

Monday, September 29, 2014

It was kind of a cool day today. I gave Mary the option of going for a walk or a drive today.

She wanted to go for a drive. We went for a little drive and ended up at Donner park. She wanted to stay in the car but I mentioned I'd never been there before and it looked like a nice park. It was ;) We went for a walk and could see the city below. She was saying how big the city really looks and how pretty the mountains are and how we can sometimes take them for granted. We were watching a dog and she said "I wonder what a dogs life is like". It was really peaceful at the park with lots of birds and a few people out walking their dogs.

Friday September 26, 2014

Mary slept in today and had just gotten up when I came over. I got her some breakfast and had a little to eat with her too. Peter’s truck got stolen and he was working on getting that back while I had Mary choose some clothes to wear and take a shower. When she was ready, we went for a walk around the neighborhood. She was really relaxed when we came back. I got her some water and let her relax on the porch.

Wednesday September 24, 2014

Mary had a really good walk today! When she was ready to go, we went for a walk at
Sugarhouse Park and then she wanted to go for a walk around the neighborhood too! When we got back from our walk, she left with Peter to go to the park again. It was a really nice day to be out and about.
